It’s July. In Florida. It is sooo hot! As I sit here, starting this blog, I’m thinking of how to introduce myself through this site. Seems like I should just write you an introductory blog post about what I am into right NOW!
I should preface this by saying that I am incredibly indecisive and tend to change my mind often. You’re welcome.
Maybe because it is so hot in the summer? Maybe because I can cram so much goodness into one cup? I have one every day. Like, every day. At home, I typically make my own superfood shake (Shakeology, cafe latte flavor) and add banana and almond milk. OR I treat myself! I really love Tropical Smoothie Cafe. I try to make smart, healthy choices. (Don’t we all? It’s not easy!) I like to order Chia Banana. It’s not on the menu anymore, but they’ll make it for you. Banana, chia, PB, oats… and I add a protein, yum! Sometimes, rarely, I get a sweet one like Bahama Mama which is more tropical: coconut, white chocolate… you see where this is going.
I love jewelry. Always have. I need something on, earrings, a ring… otherwise, I just feel naked! I used to be all about big hoops, then it was anklets, then anything silver… at this stage of my life, I want everything as long as it’s rose gold in color. It looks especially nice when I’m rocking a bit of a tan! One (affordable) brand I like is Lauren Conrad (I never even liked watching the OC!) and I find her stuff at Kohl’s. I found a few new pieces this morning! They aren’t rose gold, but it’s a lot of gold and pink. I think there’s a theme here…
Granted, my tech skills are not where I would like them to be and I have much to learn… but, I have been having some fun learning about designing on the web this summer. Many of my teacher friends will understand the major shift we are taking this year by moving our learning management system onto Canvas. It’s a whole new world to create your classroom that way! Also, I am playing around with WordPress to be able to bring you this blog. I admit, I send my tech savvy friends a million messages via text with lists of questions, but I’m learning! I’m always into learning!
Now, typically I am not so up-to-date with the trends. I tend to be slightly behind the fads. What I think is cool is always so last season. However, this summer season pineapples are everywhere! And I am LOVING it! Such a fun and tropical summer icon. In one of my summer classes our instructor joked about silly teachers who would switch out their chevron borders for pineapple ones this year. In my head all I could think about for the rest of the class is “Where can I find pineapple bulletin borders and other classroom accessories??” In honor of the pineapple, enjoy this picture of my summer pool float. Many a nap have occurred here thus far.
Cooling Face Masks.
Between starting a new career, trying to adult, taking a million classes… I’ve had some stress. Unfortunately, stress tends to show up on my face. No wonder I always get carded- I look like a teenager with this face! I wanted to use a new face mask to give my skin a little help in addition to a decent nighttime cream from Clinique. The mask I am currently using is from Lush. If you’ve ever been to a Lush store, you know how wonderfully fragrant and magical it is. If you haven’t been, what are you doing with your life? Anyways, I tried one called Don’t Look at Me! It’s made with lemon and “scrubby brown rice”, and it boasts benefits like restoring and brightening so I was sold. First of all, you keep these masks in the fridge so they stay fresh (natural ingredients) which means it is cool and refreshing. This mask smells so good! (It is important to note that I am OBSESSED with lemon everything.) And it makes my skin feel soft. AND it is clearing up my face, finally. Lush to the rescue!
I do have to mention that this is my second face mask attempt. At first I tried one called Complection Warrior (?) and it was made with garlic. I know it was helping my skin, but I couldn’t handle the smell for the full ten minutes! Womp womp.
